Government prolongs existing home insulation programme in bridging Green Deal gap

The government is planning to extend existing home insulation programmes to bridge the gap between the government’s energy efficiency scheme and insulation installations.  New targets are needed for energy companies under existing domestic insulation agenda.  It is forecasted that in the upcoming Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the loft insulation work will decrease by 93% and the cavity wall insulation work will decrease by 70%.

Loft insulation, one of the most energy efficient home insulation measures has been predicted to significantly decline when the Green deal goes live later in the year the government has predicted.  Data from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) states that the rate of installation of loft insulation is expected to fall by 93% when the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) are introduced, while cavity wall insulation will fall by 70%.
