We have been contacted by a number of Accreditation bodies in relation to EPC legislation enforcement urging energy assessors to assist in reporting incidents to Trading Standards, the CLG and the local regions MP -Where properties are being marketed for let or sale without an EPC.

At every opportunity we offer our new and existing clients FREE EPC legislative advice as to whether their own property requires an EPC or is exempt. The current EPC law stipulates clearly the following:

“As soon as a building is in the process of being offered for sale, it is the responsibility of the seller to make available an EPC to prospective buyers”

“As soon as a building is in the process of being offered to let, it is the responsibility of the prospective landlord to make available an EPC to prospective tenants”

Any breach of the above is putting the responsible person(s) at risk of an enforceable penalty.
