We have been contacted by a number of Accreditation bodies in relation to EPC legislation enforcement urging energy assessors to assist in reporting incidents to Trading Standards, the CLG and the local regions MP -Where properties are being marketed for let or sale without an EPC.

What are the exemptions for a commercial EPC?

Under current commercial EPC law, an EPC is not required on the following exempt premises:

  • On lease renewals or extensions that were in place prior to 1st October 2008
  • Places of worship
  • Stand alone buildings less than 50 square meters
  • Properties with consent to be demolished within a 2 year period
