The BRE Trust and the Energy Saving Trust is currently introducing The National Refurbishment Centre. This data brings in reliable resources from scientific research and testing, guidance’s on installation techniques and more so, real refurbishment projects with customer feedback from around the country.

The Governments Green deal investment will implement energy efficiency resources in autumn 2012. Forthright costs will be met by funding mechanisms, and then repaid from the savings in the householder’s energy bills. The National Refurbishment Centre aims to provide expert advice to help many professionals regain their confidence with retrofitting to a high energy efficiency standard.

The Coalition Government aim to create a thorough strategy to help overcome the various challenges that Britain faces today. A way in which they are trying to achieve this is through the scheme of ‘The Green Deal’. This scheme encourages citizens to take responsibility of their impact on the environment by giving each home up to £6,500 worth of energy improvement measures.

Water management is crucial in order to improve the environment we live in. Local Authorities have begun the change by introducing water efficient measures into their buildings. Individuals also need to control their management strategy with, for example; low flush toilets, water saving shower heads and rainwater harvesting systems. However, the housing associations hold a key role as they have over 2.5 million properties. They should do this by seeking new ways to improve their efficiency within the society.

As members of the UK Green Building Council, Syntegra Consulting are tracking evolving legislative discussions closely. Contact us for more information regarding the pending ‘Green Deal’ scheme.

A recent discussion by an environmental group around energy performance certificates has urged that homes with an EPC rating below D should be banned from being marketed for sale/let unless they have been improved.

In response to the latter a senior executive at the Energy Saving Trust has backed this up by stating ‘the move would force householders to refurbish their properties.’ Furthermore, they proposed in making it a planning condition to retrofit the whole house when householders seek planning permission to alter their own homes.

We believe that if the above procedures are put into place there needs to be clear direction by the the government/local authorities to guide home owners to competent companies/persons who can assist in terms of recommending measures to enhance a properties energy rating to comply.

Syntegra Consulting can provide energy consultancy design and assessment advice to domestic home owners and commercial property owners in terms of enhancing the energy efficiency of their property.
