When is the use of LED’s most cost effective?

LEDs are most cost effective whenever there is a need for 24hr-12hr lighting. In simple terms, this assumption is based on the 50,000 hours of usage guarantee that leading LED manufacturers give for their products.

The 50,000 hours is translated into 6.5 years of 24 hr lighting, where the return on investment will occur after the first 2 years. For the further 4.5 years there will be a total saving of 45% – 55%.

The other very important parameter that usually is not taken into account, is the replacement cost of light fittings. For example, in 50,000 hours of an LEDs lifetime, would equate to replacing a fluorescent lamp at least 4 times and at hour least 30 times if a halogen lamps were used. This replacement cost is of great importance if you think for example, the maintenance costs that production plants and hotels have in order to do the replacements.
